Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores attended as a special guest of Xiamen Airlines during its launching of new flights between Jinjiang and Davao cities on 18 December 2018 at the Quanzhou-Jinjiang International Airport. The two cities will be served twice weekly that is expected to enhance the recently signed sister city agreement between Davao and Jinjiang.

Jinjiang City Vice Mayor Li Zili, Jinjiang Municipal Bureau of Overseas Chinese, Taiwan and Foreign Affairs Director General Chen Jianjun, Xiamen Air, and other local government officials also attended the launching event.

The Davao-Jinjiang air link is the first ever direct regular flight from China to Davao City. It also enhances Fujian Province’s vital position in China’s air connectivity with the Philippines as having the most number of air links with the Philippines to date with the flights for Xiamen-Manila, Xiamen-Cebu, JInjiang-Manila, Jinjiang-Davao, Fuzhou-Cebu and Fuzhou-Kalibo.

Consul General Flores recommended to Xiamen Air to actively promote, in tandem with the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen, the new air links between Davao and Jinjiang cities, as well as its other destinations in the Philippines, bearing in mind bringing in more Chinese tourists to the Philippines in 2019 and beyond.
