10 November 2013 - More than a hundred Filipinos living in Xiamen and in neighboring cities attended the Bingo Social organized by the Filipino Association in Xiamen or FAX with the support of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen.

The activity also became the first official public event of Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores, who addressed the gathering of 120 people, composed of FAX officers, the expatriate Filipino community, Chinese and other foreign friends, as well as officers and staff of the Philippine Consulate General and their families.

In his remarks, Consul General Flores reiterated the Consul General's commitment to give all out service to the Filipino Community in the provinces of Fujian and Jiangxi. The Consul General also commended FAX for being an agent in bringing together the Filipino community in Fujian and encouraged the organization to keep up its good efforts and strive to live up to the ideals on which it was founded.

The event, held at the grounds of the Consulate General, was made even more special as it became an occasion for FAX to launch its fund raising campaign to support the victims of the recent massive earthquake that damaged large parts of Bohol and Cebu, as well as the survivors of super typhoon Yolanda (International Name: Haiyan).

Proceeds of the Bingo Social will also be donated to the relief operations in the Philippines.

Before the start of the games, the new set of FAX officers for 2014-2015 was introduced for the first time.

Aside from 10 rounds of Bingo, there was also a raffle draw and a merienda-cena. END.
