Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores delivered an inspirational message during the celebration of United Nations (UN) Day 2018 at the Manila Xiamen International School (MXIS) on 09 November 2018 held at MXIS Gymnasium, Xiamen City.

In his message, the Consul General Flores commended the Manila Xiamen International School (MXIS) management, faculty and students for their continued and active commemoration of UN Day every year as one of its extra-curricular highlights.

MXIS was commended in contributing to global efforts to generate greater awareness of the importance of the UN to the daily lives of people around the world. Furthermore, Consul General Flores shared some basic facts of the intergovernmental organization as well as underscored its contributions in the promotion of world peace, social and economic development and protecting human rights.

MXIS celebrates UN Day every year with a parade of nations as well as showcasing cultural performances of different nations which symbolize unity and friendship and creates a greater understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity.

Rousing performances from well-known fairy tales “Alladin” and The Wizard of Oz” musical presentations by MXIS students as well as featuring students of Saint Gabriel International School, MXIS’s partner school in Manila, capped the celebrations.

The event was attended by more than 500 guests which included Consulate General’s officers and staff, MXIS officials, faculty, students, parents as well as members of the Filipino community in Xiamen.
