The Manila Piano Trio in a heartwarming performance at SM Lifestyle Center, Xiamen City on 14 June 2019. The crowd was serenaded with a series of timeless Western classic, Filipino and Chinese suites.

  

The Manila Piano Trio dazzled the audience at SM Lifestyle Center, Xiamen City on 14 June 2019, organized by the Consulate General as part of its week-long series of activities in commemoration of the 121st Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence and mainstreaming activity of Sentro Rizal (SR) - Xiamen/cultural diplomacy thrusts for 2019.

The concert, dubbed as “An Evening with the Manila Piano Trio”, mesmerized the crowd with a stunning performance of Filipino music, western classic and Chinese suites under the tutelage of Filipino multi-awarded and renowned pianist, Abelardo G. Galang II. Close to 400 guests attended the concert which included Filipino and Chinese business sectors, Filipino community, academe, media and other official contacts as well as shopgoers.

Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores presented Plaques of Appreciation to the Trio as well as to SM-Xiamen Management team led by Mr. Allan Brosas, SAVP in their valuable contribution for the staging of the successful concert.

The Trio is a resident chamber ensemble of the School of Music of the Philippine Women’s University. Other members of the Trio are internationally trained artists, Denise Michelle Santos-Huang, violinist and Antoni Josef R. Inacay, cellist. Both Santos-Huang and Inacay are US-trained, while pianist Galang was trained in Germany and Japan.

The concert was a joint collaboration of the Consulate General, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and SM Xiamen aimed to promote world-class Filipino artists as well as enhance cultural cooperation and exchanges and deepening of Philippines and Xiamen/Fujian relations.
