Xiamen City, 30 July 2020. The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen successfully arranged the repatriation of 36 Filipinos, including 28 students, to the Philippines from Fujian Province, China.

The 28 Filipino exchange students from Confucius Institute, Angeles University Foundation took up Mandarin course from Fujian Normal University but were not able to return home after they finished their language course on 17 June 2020 due to the travel restrictions imposed both by the Chinese and Philippine governments because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The repatriated Filipinos were forced to fly to Tianjin City because there are no scheduled flights yet from Fujian Province to Manila.
