Xiamen City, 11 August 2020. The Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen successfully arranged the repatriation of eighteen (18) Filipino seafarers stranded in Xiamen port onboard the Chinese cruise ship Piano Land since the travel restrictions imposed by China due to the Covid-19 pandemic early this year.

A total of one hundred four (104) Filipino crew were onboard Piano Land but most of them opted to remain and extend their employment contract.

The 18 seafarers left Xiamen’s Gaoqi International Airport for Nanjing and from there took PAL flight 2P3839 to Manila. They arrived in Manila at 2300H on 10 August 2020.

The Filipino crew’s licensed manning agency in the Philippines, North Sea Marine Services, has already made arrangements for the crew’s swab test, transportation, and quarantine accommodation upon arrival in the Philippines.

The Consulate General briefed the crew on pre-arrival and arrival procedures in Manila before their departure from Xiamen.
