Xiamen City, 13 August 2020. The Philippine Consulate General successfully arranged the repatriation of four (4) land-based Filipinos from Fujian Province, China to the Philippines yesterday, 12 August 2020.
The four Filipinos have been trying to return to the Philippines but were prevented by travel restrictions imposed by countries around the world, including China and the Philippines due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Filipino repatriates took the Xiamen-Nanjing-Manila route, a longer trip than usual, because there are no direct flight schedules yet from Fujian Province to the Philippines. They arrived in Manila today at 0129H.
Since 15 March 2020, the Consulate General in Xiamen has arranged the repatriation of 178 Filipinos, including stranded seafarers and students, from Fujian province to the Philippines and is expecting more of similar undertakings in the future as international travels start to normalize.
